The Green-eyed Monster (A Stanton Brothers Short) A short and very violent tale set around two brothers ( the Stanton brothers) who act as vigilantes in the rough, tough streets of Teesside. No shortage of sex and violence here, accompanied with all the foul language one could expect. Here brawn definitely takes over from brains. A great read but not a tale for the sensitive reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheeky little number..., 31 Oct 2013
This review is from: The Green-eyed Monster (A Stanton Brothers Short) (Kindle Edition)
Having been introduced to both Martin Stanley and the Stanton Brothers by the novella Bone Breakers, I had no hesitation in revisiting their world in the form of the short prequel to the aforementioned novella, Green Eyed Monster.
No spoilers here, it's a cheeky little number about how the characters of that book came into each other's circles of gravity, and the lengths they'll go to for a bit of cash money.
Okay, so this book has all of the usual Martin Stanley trademarks; quality dialogue, witty banter, and knuckle cracking violence. What it adds to the mix though, is some sweet first person narrative, especially when that person is a guy you really know you should wish harm upon, but you can't because he's just too damn cool.
Top notch short, well worth a punt. Tell me one other thing that you could do for less than a quid that'll keep you this entertained for an hour. Nothing, that's what. Nothing that doesn't involve a 'your mum' joke anyway.

A man tries to help out his friend who is being blackmailed, but he also wants to make a profit at the same time. And if it's the Stanton Brothers helping you out there's going to be violence and bloodshed. This is a great introduction to Martin Stanley's work, a hard hitting crime story from one of the new wave of Brit Grit authors. It's also a great appetiser for Bone Breakers the novel which follows on from this short prequel. I will certainly be reading more work by this talented author in the future. Enjoy.

The Green-eyed Monster is a prequel to Martin Stanley's cracking Bone Breakers and again features the Stanton Brothers, who get involved in a blackmail scam. Hardboiled, gritty and great fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Green-eyed Monster, By Martin Staley, 4 Jan 2014

Not sure how I got hold of this story. I might have downloaded this story expecting some green eyed monster lurking around killing people, but this story is not about that, let me be clear about that.

For me this was one of the most exciting stories I can add to my list. It begins with two ordinary people in a pub and one of them has an embarrassing problem. I won’t go into much detail but lets say the outcome is expected and shocking at the same time. This was one of the few stories that I pushed the boundaries of my allowed break time to complete.

It’s a must to download, although the use of bad language is not for the faint of heart. If you want to read something compelling and short, than this is the story for you.
