Listening the hell out of this at the moment. An orchestral, sweeping set of immaculately delivered chamber-pop songs and instrumental interludes, all pulled off with admirable confidence.
The brainchild of Ellis Ludwig-Leone, the music is provided by a great ensemble of musicians, topped off by vocalists Allen Tate (sounding somewhat like Bill Callahan) and female foils Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, taking a break from their day-job as vocalists with Lucius.
This is a fascinating collection that touches many musical bases and hits most of them with aplomb. A proper musical journey of an album.
