A very well written book giving an introduction to this little known unit. The author describes the background and motivation of the Spanish volunteers who fought against the Soviets. Organisation, leaders and campaigns are also covered.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is that the plates are rather bright and the colours not quite right. This is not a great problem as the Division used standard german uniforms and equipment with Spanish badges and awards. The latter are illustrated with description and explanation of their significance.
Osprey books are meant to be an introduction to the subject, obvious by their small size. The author tells us that there has been a lot written about the Division but published in Spanish.
This is one of the few books written in English to provide information about one of the Third Reich's smaller but well motivated allied units.

The perfect companion for all military history enthusiasts is: THE ROMA VICTRIX WINE BEAKERCalix Imperium, Roma Victrix Pewter wine beaker

In this book on the Blue Division, author C. Caballero Jurado covers a brief chronology that led up to the formation of the divsion, followed by a section on recruitment and organization. We then get to look at how their training went in Germany before seeing how the units were composed. Then it is on to life on the Eastern Front. The unit's motivation and morale is next and amongst all the volunteer units, they were probably the most motivated and with the highest morale. We then get to see how they operated while on campaign and then what happened when the war was over and they were repatriated. All of this is superbly illustrated by Ramiro Bujeiro and a superb collection of period photographs.
