5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent conclusion to the Starblood trilogy, 21 Sep 2013

This review is from: Black Sun (Starblood Trilogy Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
This final book in the trilogy is a very good read. Ms Voiez's writing style shows growing confidence, maturity and assurance. I would recommend it for the fact that it is well-written and meticulously edited (unlike a lot of Kindle books), and also because of the convincing and sympathetic characters living their tangled and agonistic lives. The story bowls the reader along, there is not a wasted word. Ms Voiez writes erotic gothic horror - very - this trilogy is not for those of a nervous disposition.

This author has an extraordinary imagination which takes the reader into startling scenes and unimaginable worlds. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Carmilla Voiez doesn't do unoriginal., 21 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Black Sun (Starblood Trilogy Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
This is the concluding novel in the Starblood trilogy. Satori has brought Star back to the physical world, and the secod novel, Psychonaut, could well have ended on that happy note, but as we know by now, Carmilla Voiez doesn't do clichés.

Satori and Star have not returned alone: insidious influences from both the astral plane and the physical world intermingle in a web of deceit and betrayal of Wagnerian complexity. Even that which is not what it seems is not what it seems.

As with the previous two novels, the narrative is carried by shifting viewpoints. However, Dark Sun develops this approach by having the viewpoints overlap; we see the action not merely through the eyes of the protagonists, but through their minds. Among other delights, the reader has the unique experience of being taken into a demon's confidence.

If you are a horror fan, the Starblood Trilogy has everything to recommend it. If you are not, you will enjoy having your comfort zone challenged - I certainly did.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great finish, 7 July 2014
This review is from: Black Sun (Starblood Trilogy Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
The best of the three.
Carmilla's style matures with the characters during the book.
Their imperfections show, making them more human, or not?
With just sufficient questions left, there is still curiosity while the book reaches a brave conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic conclusion!, 26 May 2014

'Black Sun' is the perfect conclusion to the Starblood Trilogy. The book is well written, with Gothic atmosphere, and it's a refreshing look at life, death, family, friendship, and the every changing world around us.

New characters are drawn into Ms Voiez's web of storytelling, and each are different and fulfil a great purpose. I thoroughly enjoyed his atmospheric haunting twenty-first century horror tale, and will be reading more of Ms Voie's work!
