This volume we follow Luffy and Zoro as they land on an island that is being occupied by the pirate captain buggy the clown and his crew. While they're there they get caught up in the townspeople's attempt to regain their town from buggy the clown. We also meet Nami the pirate thief who has a talent for navigation, a role Luffy needs to fill in his pirate crew.
The story has improved over the first volume with greater humour and stronger action with another devils fruit being introduced which brings in even crazier powers and action scenes. The characters remain strong and even the sub characters in this arc are shown great character development. Unfortunately the volume is left at a cliff-hanger with the inevitable fight between buggy and luffy coming next volume. In my opinion one piece is the world's greatest manga and better still it hasn't yet hit its stride

This second volume of One Piece sees Luffy and his new crewmember Zolo continue on their voyage and still on the lookout for new crew only for them to run into the weird pirate captain Buggy the Clown who also has unique powers. Luffy also encounters Nami, a young thief who specializes in robbing from pirates and who has an instinctive grasp of the weather and the sea.
This volume is much improved from the first with some very nice action all the way through while still managing to keep up the humour. The artwork and the story itself are still very good and the characters are remaining interesting as well. While I would say that the series isn't yet truly great it is definitely showing potential.

I loved Volume 1, but I would have to say that One piece volume 2 has managed to top the first volume in my opinion. Its a fun filled adventure that would brighten my day anytime. As well as getting to see more of Luffy and Zoro/Zolo this volume introduces Nami a bit more as well as this adventures antagonist Buggy the clown. It contains a good amount of 'random towns persons backstory' and Luffy and Zolo showing how ridiculously awesome they are. Especially Zoro as he probably gets the biggest fight of the volume.
The only thing I'd say could be considered a downside to this volume is that, as usual for one piece (I think the manga, but definitely the anime) it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, and you're Gonna have to wait for next volume to see Luffy kick the snot out of Buggy (That's not a spoiler because I haven't read the next volume, I'm just pretty sure that's what's Gonna happen)
Another small point, my sister was complaining recently about all the adds and random pictures at the end of a lot of graphic novels, taking up pages that could have been used for story (I don't really mind them myself). Well this one only has 6 sides of this, 3 of which are for a (rather stupid IMHO) cut and colour Luffy. So there isn't much of it.
This book is good. If you read the first one, you should definitely read this one.

One piece is a brilliant manga and anime by Eiichiro Oda. I've only just gotten into reading the manga, but it is fantastic! I could probably read the same one piece manga 5 times in a row without getting bored xD
Anyway, in this manga, we meet buggy the clown. Luffy and Roronoa Zorro face off, who's going to win the battle? Find out!!
