Just managed to chew my way through this Kindle book - still a load of rubbish, wouldn't have bothered if I hadn't downloaded the paid-for 3-book 'starter pack', which I now sorely regret. I don't usually skip pages, but in this case I've skipped whole chapters! Again, poor writing, with only a few exceptions mostly characters you can't possibly like or even warm to, inappropriate americanisms thrown in together with the odd peppering of obscure words where simple ones would do, and a non-ending with loose ends. And could the author really not have come up with a better russian name than a mangled version of... 'Gorbachev'?! It's the unmitigating negativity, gore and pointless violence that gets to you; at least with Jack Reacher (and believe me, there's no comparison between the two) there is purpose and some light relief. Thank goodness the third book isn't nearly as long...
