A short, easily read novella. A stubborn but well-meaning hero who, because his father had turned out to be the illegitimate son of an Earl, was now being pushed into a status improving marriage with a lady of his grandfather's choice. Although not setting out to meet the suggested lady their first meeting involves an accident caused by him. There is the usual villain, where he chivalrously rescues her from an unpleasant situation, they realise that they actually want to get married and the story has the usual happy ending. There is nothing deep in this novella, but it is a pleasant read which will not task your brain.
