great stoner/doom record (i hate labels but it sometimes helps)a muddy production hinders or helps, you decide, it includes a lovely ballard called evergreen which shows their sensitive side.then back to the grind with another sludgy 14 minute track, its great seeing a woman fronting this type of band, and she does a fine job, missed them on a short british tour hopefully next time though.so its worth investing in this album, would love to see them leading lights in this type of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album of the year!, 30 Nov 2013

I had never heard of Windhand before I discovered this album on Amazon. It blew me away, easily the best doom metal, sludge, whatever you want to call it, album I've heard this year. There have been some classic released in 2013, such as Doomriders, Mouth Of The Architect, Morne and so on, but this album, for me at least, does it all spectacularly right. The chugging riffage, the bass and drum playing, the production and overall band sound, the vocals, the length of the songs - it's all spot on. Absolutely entrancing and joyful.

I'm devastated that I missed their very brief visit to the UK - come back guys!

Every Windhand album is epic; an incredible band, this one is more instrumental epic - the album `Windhand' has Janis Joplin vocals creaming magestically over a heavey cake of doom, the collab with Cough `Reflections on a Negative Plane' well - get that too.
Like I say, very few bands like this in existence. Ive not hit the minimum word length here so Ill leave a review copied from Invisible Oranges - I have not seen this band live yet - if they come to the UK - that will change. They are at their best live apparently -

"Richmond doom crews Cough and Windhand not only share some influences, but now they also share a member in bassist Parker Chandler and a label home, Relapse. That’s correct, after releasing their massive self-titled opus last year, Windhand have not only signed to the label for a full-length, they will release their first Relapse effort on April 16th as part of a split with Cough. Stream that in its entirety below and order yours at the label.

Cough is currently touring their way toward Roadburn 2013 and Heavy Days in Doomtown, and Windhand will play US dates shortly thereafter. Make sure you catch them on the road if the chance arises. "
