5.0 out of 5 stars deep, dark and enthralling
Continuing the adventures of the fabled gladiator Spartacus, 'The gods demand sacrifice' is thrilling, gripping and a real page turner. With Dido in the ground, the danger faced by Spartacus and his allies grows daily with assassins, violence and political machinations with every step.

A must read if you are a fan of Rome, Vikings or game of thrones!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first but not bad
Ok, but not as good as the first book in the series. I found the constant spelling, grammatical and typing errors in the Kindle version very annoying and distracting. Worth a go though if you are a fan of the genre as characters have been well developed and the series shows promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing follow-up to an amazing book,, 17 Feb 2014

First time novelist Robert Southworth returns with his second novel, and sequel to the brilliant Spartacus Talons of an Empire,
And what a follow up it is too, Robert has such a great writing style, that would easily transfer to the big screen, his writing flows, pulling you through each chapter, that leaves you wanting more until the very end. The way he writes each character is also worth mentioning, you feel for everyone, especially the returning cast, and obviously with this type of book, there will be loss, and it will hit your heart strings too,
With so many twist and turns, you never feel like you have the measure of the story either, a soon as you think your got an idea of where Robert is taking you with this adventure, he quickly rips the rug from under your feet, and completely hooks you in,
I love this book, and I love the first too, and highly recommend this to anyone, and if your already a Spartacus fan and still unsure, I applaud you if you enjoyed the tv show, you'll love this as it could of easily been used as the next seasons, and seriously for the price it's selling for, you would have to such a lifetime to find a better deal,

4.0 out of 5 stars a must!, 4 May 2014
This review is from: Spartacus II: The Gods Demand Sacrifice (Spartacus Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)
thoroughly enjoyed this and the first book in the series and will certainly buy the next ones. i gave it 4 stars only because of the incredibly high number of spelling and grammatical errors. aside from that, two of the best books ive read in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Spartacus, more blood and more glory!, 27 Mar 2014
This review is from: Spartacus II: The Gods Demand Sacrifice (Spartacus Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)
The second book in the Spartacus series is frankly amazing; it's deep, dark and an original take on the Hero spartacus. His writing is easy to follow as it flows seamlessly from one page to the next. R Southworth has a talent for writing believable, deep and fleshed out characters, those who return in the second book have a greater relationship to the reader and thus making it a very enjoyable read!
