4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly fine, careful if your case uses press studs
Bought one to use with a new Sandisk SSD. Arrived promptly, it's fine but if your case uses brackets with studs rather than screws then you might have some issues. My case (Coolermaster) uses these and the holes required a bit of drilling before they would fit.

This review is from: Quantek Black Metal 2.5" to 3.5" SSD Mounting Adapter Bracket Hard Drive Holder (Electronics)
This adapter is accurately made, robust, well-finished, and supplied with suitable screws. If you want to mount a 2.5" drive in a conventional drive bay and connect cables directly to the drive it will probably be very good - 5 stars. But if (like me) you want to mount the drive in a caddy belonging to a chassis with front-access drive bays it's useless, because the adapter DOESN'T give the drive the form factor of a standard 3.5" drive: the electrical connections on the drive+adapter combination are in a completely different place, so it won't fit a drive bay with a fixed socket. 0 stars this time! It would be perfectly possible to make an adapter to give a 2.5" drive a standard 3.5" form factor, and then it would work in any kind of chassis; I can't imagine why Quantek don't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid!, 4 April 2014

This review is from: Quantek Black Metal 2.5" to 3.5" SSD Mounting Adapter Bracket Hard Drive Holder (Electronics)
A good solid item, fits the SSD and HD slot exactly. It's a bit higher than stated (about 15mm) and it's a mystery why it's referred to as 2.5" to 3.5" when it's actually 2.75" to 4", but it fits the conventional HD slot.

Good quality metal, feels strong. Used to mount a Samsung 840 in a desktop 3.5inch bay. Both SSD mounting holes and drive bay holes lined up perfectly and no issues in securing with the supplied screws

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for budget - and a quick fix., 9 Sep 2014

This review is from: Quantek Black Metal 2.5" to 3.5" SSD Mounting Adapter Bracket Hard Drive Holder (Electronics)
Bought this to go with 250GB Samsung SSD - it's well made and durable, but as others have alluded to, does sadly have holes at the sides that are too small for any decent screw. The ones on the main body are perfect and secure the SSD perfectly. I had to drill out holes (but only by a small amount) to get the screw in a few millimeters, as given the way it would be secured in my case, this was all it needed.

For just a few pounds, it's definitely a great purchase to hold your SSD - and the tiny amount of work needed to perfect it really isn't that much hassle if you consider you're building or putting together a PC anyway!

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't fit Antec case, 26 Aug 2014

It didn't attach easily to my Antec P180 case. The threads on the holes are the wrong gauge. I'm not sure if this is a quirk of my case and the screws supplied, but in any case it was a pain to fit, and I ended up with some kludgy solution. I would have been better off just using double sided sticky tape and sticking the SSD to a shelf inside the case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Although the SSD fits nicely into this adapter, 2 Sep 2014

This review is from: Quantek Black Metal 2.5" to 3.5" SSD Mounting Adapter Bracket Hard Drive Holder (Electronics)
Although the SSD fits nicely into this adapter, the adapter itself didn't fit nicely into the expansion bays of my desktop. I could only get one screw to locate and hold the adapter in place. As a result the adapter must slope down so that one end sits on the Hard Disc Drive below it. Not really a problem but doesn't look very tidy.

Only mounts centrally as per picture.

Would be nice if you can mount to replicate the same position of a normal 3.5" drive
#1 : If you have a series of drives, the cabling is straight with all 3.5" drives until this "mounted-centre" needs a bend...
#2 : Can't use this in certain docks
