Turtle Beach P4C Review!
on 2 December 2013
If you are here reading this then the chances are you have purchased a PS4 but dislike the cheap and basic one they include with the system, it does it's job but only as a last resort. Well this one by Turtle Beach is something that everyone should have especially if you like talking with friends or in open lobby's.
This headset is for "chat" purposes only and will not provide any in game audio so you will require your TV volume for that. I myself hate in-ear headphones as i find them uncomfortable so the beauty of this one is the ear cup fits over and around your ear and the strap goes over your head. The strap is padded and is comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. The strap can also be lengthened so it can suit people of different sizes. The microphone arm is made from what i can only describe as a bendable metal and it feels very well made yet allows you to position it as close or as far away from your head as you want, the arm can swing the other way meaning you can have the headset on either your left or right ear. You get a decent cable length and it simply plugs into the bottom of the DuelShock 4 controller. There is an in-line control point so you can lower-higher the volume of your friends and indeed mute your microphone, there is a small clip attached on the back so you can pegg it to the top of your shirt for easy access. One additional thing to note is that the speaker part is "slotted" (look very close at the picture) meaning even though your ear is covered up, you can still hear audio from the tv, essentially when wearing this it sounds like your friends are sat next to you and it doesn't affect the audio coming from the tv.
PROS: crystal clear listening to friends and apparently my voice is clear at their end * Part that goes around your ear is made from a comfortable/breathable and very well padded mesh material * over head strap is comfy and can be extended to whatever length you wish * can be used either side of your head * microphone arm feels sturdy * decent cable length and in-line audio controls * Can also work with PC
CONS: I wouldn't be buying it if the one included with the PS4 wasn't so rubbish
VERDICT: Now that cross game party chat has arrived on PlayStation 4 many people will be wanting to talk to friends and other people. This is more robust and comfortable to use compared with the cheap one they include with the system and i would argue the sound quality is a lot better too.
RECOMMENDED especially if you like to talk to other gamers!
