This review is from: Montaigne and the way we live now (Kindle Edition)
It's not often you come across a book of philosophy that explains complex ideas in simple ways. Which is what this one sets out to do and achieves it really well. It also brings 500 year old philosophy bang up to date, which is a good way of introducing philosophy to an audience that might not otherwise engage with it. Montaigne comes over as a really interesting man, a philosopher you could actually imagine having an interesting chat with. You get to learn not just about him, but loads of other thinkers as well, from Ancient Greece to modern Britain. Kurt Cobain and John Terry even make appearances! The tone of the book is enthusiastic and approachable and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
