5.0 out of 5 stars A Long Lost Knight Is Found - At Last!, 26 Nov. 2013

This review is from: Gladys Knight (Bonus Tracks) (Audio CD)
1979 was perhaps disco's greatest year, and Gladys, with this album of ten cuts, was on the bandwagon like everybody else. Thankfully, her effort was more than respectable, and as well as dance cuts like You Bring Out The Best, this fantastic reissue by Funky Town Grooves also breaths new life into the lady's many sterling ballad offerings from the same set; they alone make this CD an essential purchase. As fans would expect, smoochers like Am I Too Late, and her original cover of I Who Have Nothing (recently updated on her most recent CD), are stamped with Gladys' patent vocal mastery. There are now not ten, but nineteen cuts to enjoy here, and she's even joined by her loyal Pips on the last of the five previously unreleased tracks. Altogether, this is a superior and wonderfully put together reissue, and my only petty gripe is that I would prefer repeated tracks/edits to appear at the end of the CD, so the previously unreleased material follow directly on from the original material, uninterrupted.

Again, this is an essential purchase, and we must all rise to the occasion; a legendary Knight awaits her audience.
