5.0 out of 5 stars A heartfelt tribute by one of the worlds finest guitarists
Al Di Meola is not only celebrating the Beatles, but the history of Abbey Road Studios as well. This tribute is heartfelt and that makes it so special. It is wonderful to see that one of the worlds most celebrated guitarists is just a fan too. This recording truly captured Di Meola's "Kid in the Candy Store" feeling. 3.0 out of 5 stars A tribute, apparently
Hmm, tough to review this one. On the one hand, there's your standard level of flawless playing but on the other hand calling it a tribute is playing it somewhat fast and loose. Most tracks will be unrecognisable to anyone who isn't into the Beatles in a big way, which I guess is fair enough. But I was hoping for a little more homage to the source material.

It is wonderful to see that one of the worlds most celebrated guitarists is just a fan too. This recording truly captured Di Meola's "Kid in the Candy Store" feeling. 5.0 out of 5 stars Maestro with a passion for beatles, 28 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was instantly turned on to the magic and wonder of Al di Meola by the Friday night in San Francisco album many years ago. Being a huge beatles fan, I couldn't wait for this compilation to be released. From the first notes there is an instant smile of reconition, love of the feel of the music and his clear joy at interpreting songs that have a place in his heart. I would run out of superlatives saying how enjoyable this album is. Buy it whether you're a fan of the maestro, a fan of the beatles or just enjoy fabulous new interpretations. You won't be disappointed, there is (just like the beatles) a reward from each new listen.
