Having removable plates makes this a breeze to clean. I brought this mainly for toasted sandwiches, though the other half wanted to try making waffles - switching plates is easy. There seems to be a lack of removable plate versions now.
I decided to give it 4* only because the plug is an EU type modified for the UK. It is a solid all in one conversion, but It does stick out and bend at 90' - do not be put of by this small point though.

I had a Tefal 3-in-1 toaster for decades and when it finally died I scoured the internet trying to find a toasted sandwich maker that could also make perfect waffles. I spent months reading reviews before finding this little gem. Yes it is more expensive than other makes but it is also really, really, really easy to clean, just rinse the plates under warm running water. The plates are simple to slot and lock into place too.

The toaster makes lovely crisp brown toasted sandwiches and the waffle plates honey coloured waffles to die for. I don't really use the grill for anything other than searing wraps and panini, which it does really well with absolutely no bread left sticking to the plates.

I do wish the ready to use indicator was a little brighter as it is difficult to see from the other side of the kitchen but that is just a small quibble.

If you want a versatile toaster that can actually work in all three modes, is easy to use and a doddle to clean - buy the Beem Germany Multi 3-in-1 Sandwich Toaster

I ordered this product because I was trying to avoid all the nasty chemicals in the ones with the teflon coated plates. Unfortunately I haven't been able to use it as it has a European two pin plug! I bought this product through Amazon UK and so would have hoped that the product would be suitable for immediate use in the UK. I will now have to buy a suitable adapter before I can use.

Despite being the ideal item, having a full choice of three sets of trays, the sandwich toaster was far too small.

Not even half a star - the trays may clip in and out easily enough but it under cooks everything and takes an age.
I hope I get a refund

I wanted a sandwich toaster where I could interchange the plates and wash them in the dishwasher. Others probably understand the nuisance of toasters that get full of gunk and can only be cleaned with a cloth. So I ordered this.
It has 3 sets of plates, a flat set for meat/burgers, a set for waffles and one for toasted sandwiches. They're metal backed with ceramic.
Sadly the most useful one, for toasted sandwiches, appears to be sized for non UK bread. So you need to chop sliced bread down to size which is a waste. The plate is a bit small for a decent hot sarny.
Next negative is that the notches for where the plates are very small and look very flimsy. Not what I expect from a German company.
The unit wasn't particularly cheap at £50+, but felt as if it was in the sub £20 range.
It was the only one I could find with interchangeable parts in the whole of amazon at the time. Even so, I wouldn't recommend it.
