This was as good as I remember it, when the stories were first broadcast. I'm passionate about making Shakespeare accessible to children as soon as possible. The strength of these lovely cartoons is that they do just that and are, at the same time, an utter joy for adult viewers too. This is real quality; you just have to look at the cast list to see that.

Fantastic introduction to Shakespeare for children. I used this in my Y5 class this year before going to The Globe Theatre for a workshop on A midsummer night's dream. Because the play is very condensed some of the humour is not there, although it is not all lost. The story is there. I have done the same with different Y5 classes when studying Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew. The stories are well told and very accessible. Because they are all a bit under 30 minutes, children can maintain their concentration. The fact that they are told using cartoons adds to the children being able and wanting to watch the stories. The Animated Tales helped my children develop a clear understanding of the all of these stories as well as giving them a lot of enjoyment. It has helped to spark an interest in Shakespeare. The other tales I have watched have also been most enjoyable. Well worth getting.

Great introduction to some of Shakespeare's best plays. Full of drama the stories are bought to life beautifully through the stunning animation. Ideal to show students at school or to enjoy Shakespeare in a unique way.

Bought as a gift for my husband who loved it. These were shown on TV many years ago and it was good to see them on DVD, not easy to get hold of but a real gem of a series.

OK for over 10s but if you have little ones, take note of the PG. Even though these are animated tales with stop motion animation or as cartoons some of the subject matter and imagery could scare younger viewers.

Great DVD set for anyone who wants to know the stories of Shakespeare. I bought it for my grandson who is 9 years old. We both loved watching them. The 12 plays are 30 minutes in length each. The narrative and language is fully faithful to Shakespeare which would make this ideal for schools. Excellent graphics which engage children. The characters are voiced by wonderful actors such as Jenny Agutter, Hugh Grant and many others ! Enjoy.

Prompt delivery. Everything in order. The series is beautifully made. The transfer to DVD is a touch bright in some of the episodes, but not so much as to annoy. :D

I use these with my KS4 special needs class alongside the books. A little dated now but a very good way to make Shakespeare accessible.
