Solid but felt like a very rushed ending
on 21 August 2013
I've thoroughly enjoyed the previous two books in this series, to the extent that I consider it to be the best zombie fiction I've read to date. However, this third installment whilst starting strong and with a solid core, really does peter out towards the end.
*POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
I got the feeling that the author either ran out of ideas or had decided that they were not going to pursue the series any longer, after 3/4 of the book had been written. Epic arcs, such as Gibson and Andy left me feeling actually pretty disappointed. This slice of the books, Andy, was until this third outing absolutely mesmerizing stuff. The author really, absolutely nailed the concept with perfect writing and I found myself emotionally attached to the character, wanting to scoot past the other stories in order to get back to Andy.
It's a shame that it went from 5*, 5* and now to 3*. I would be interested to hear what the author has to say about the rather abrupt wrapping up of all the loose ends.
