5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, effective, does the job well
Displays watts, volts and amps being used, plus calculates kWh and cost based on the price per kWh you set. it s so vague and poorly thought out when the manufacturer made this unit.
To enter the cost or time and then take your energy measurement is fine, but to take another measurement of another electric item to test is where it failed. it retain the last measurement and to clear the last memory measurement, one must press the reset button, this wipe all out, including...

It has an internal battery that, whilst it doesn't keep the screen on when it's not plugged into the mains, does remember your settings and the readings to date. Having plugged a bunch on stuff around the house into this meter I found out that two radios that are rarely used were drawing the best part of 10 watts between them on standby. 24/7 that equates to about £14 a year - which is more than this meter cost to buy. Would recommend.

Measures time, volts, frequency, amps, power and energy (kwh).
Accuracy seems reasonable, but not checked.
It does have internal battery backup in case of power loss - that is a very, very important feature.
The instructions are poorly written, but you can just about follow them. Consider as it a game

To make it useful you just need to enter the price per khw and that you are good to go. The display is a tad hard to read. It's a pity they didn't include an 5p LED backlight as the sockets always seem to be located somewhere dark in my house. The single thing that I really didn't like is that when you've finished monitoring an appliance and need to start a again with a new one, you have to press the recessed 'reset' button. A side effect of this is it wipe out your prices/khw so you have to put it in again.

I think, balancing features with price, this is worthy of five stars - just.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful device, 1 Nov 2014
This review is from: New Power Meter Energy Monitor Esocket Plug-in KWH Watt Electricity Meter UK (Electronics)
The only problem with this device is that the instructions that come with it are written in such poor English that they are very difficult to understand.
The device itself does the job required and appears to be very accurate.
You can see at a glance how many watts an appliance is using and can set it to measure over a period of time (a day, for example) to see how many kWh the appliance uses - useful for fridges, freezers etc that come on and off.
You can programme in the cost per kWh that you pay, if you wish.
It's a bit bulky and can be easier to use with an extension lead to enable you to read it, where the socket is hidden away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use but no counter reset (full reset only); poor instructions, 5 Dec 2014

This review is from: New Power Meter Energy Monitor Esocket Plug-in KWH Watt Electricity Meter UK (Electronics)
Easy and simple to use. Main drawback is that you can't just reset the counter to zero - you have to do a complete reset which then means you have to re-enter the price per unit. Not a massive issue but a bit of a pain!
Instructions come in a language which is supposed to be English e.g. "LCD on first line shows 0:00 with first two figures mean minutes(2 figures will occur while occur at 10 min) the rest shows seconds." ???? Fortunately its pretty easy to work out how to use it without having to resort to the confusing instructions!!
I bought from a supplier "Excite" and it took AGES to arrive from China.

Dreadful piece of kit, does not work when plugged in, and the instructions are in Chinese English so completely useless. The seller is based in Hong Kong and offers no service or help.

Buy a different item from somewhere else. I am trying to get a refund and will have to do an A _ Z claim.
