5.0 out of 5 stars a wonderful book
I received a review copy of this book and what can I say? I am a sucker for a good animal story -there were several such stories here, including a dog who saved a drowning child, a retired guide dog who helped a man dying of cancer, and a kitten trapped in a wall. Naturally, several of the stories tug at the heart strings and some make you laugh out loud. And there are...

Nice idea, collection of short stories which start well but each has a sad ending. Got too depressing to finish it.

And there are those stories which will make you despair at your fellow man. I think my favourite was the story of Hammer, a rescued pitbull who had been forced to fight. The author shares his experience of nursing the dog back to health, overcoming his fears of mankind and even getting slobbery licks! The twist in that particular tale really gave me pause for thought. Recommended for animal lovers everywhere.

Shortish stories. Would be ideal for a teenager who hates reading. Stories are very different but linked by the animals.

Great book of short stories for any animal lover. Bought as a Christmas gift, the recipient will love it especially as she loves Basset Hounds so she will love the picture on the front & the opening story; The Dog with the old soul which is what attracted me to it.
