Please note that half of this album is made up of tracks by the Ex Pistols, a band compiled by Dave Goodman who have nothing to do with the Sex Pistols other than imitating their sound and artwork.

With this in mind, you should be able to make an informed decision whether or not to buy this product, keeping in mind the other half is perfectly genuine.

3CD set. The 1st CD is basically a cutdown version of the Japanese/US CD "The Swindle Continues". It contains a mix of genuine early Sex Pistols demos (but nothing you haven't heard before) and Dave Goodman-produced "Ex-Pistols" tracks. For those that don't know, the Ex-Pistols were a rolling session band put together by Goodman to cash in on the real Pistols' success, complete with Rotten-impersonating lead singer! Having said that, it is rumoured that real Pistols members Glen Matlock, Steve Jones and Paul Cook featured incognito on these recordings from time to time.

Still on the Ex-Pistols theme, CD2 is the only full-length "proper" LP that the ersatz outfit ever made, "Deny", in 1992. The album wasn't actually sold, but given away free and even left quietly in shops for fans to pick up. "Don't Fear That Your Life Will Come To An End" is probably the best track here. Unless you really want to spend time hunting down a difficult-to-find copy of the original vinyl, this is probably your best bet to get a copy of "Deny". The quality is reasonable, but not outstanding.

CD3 is a bit of a mixed bag. It consists of more genuine Goodman demos, more "Swindle Continues" tracks, and assorted Pistols and Vicious live tracks. The most interesting track, by far, is an alternative version of Sid's famous go at "My Way"; this is different from the takes on both "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle" and "Sid Sings" being similar to the latter but with a more echoey and up-front vocal (it's a shame it seems to have been taken from a vinyl source).
