Every summer flies of all sizes (or should that be flize of all sizes?) invade the room where I feed my tribe of critturs and lay disgusting eggs all over what the cats haven't got around to. Eugh!! Over several summers I have tried swatters (too episodic) and chemicals (worryingly toxic) and have not beaten the problem. But NOW I have invested in this industrial strength, ultra-violet zapper and the little horrors are dropping like ... well ... flies ... into the Dead Fly Tray thoughtfully provided [raises triumphant fist] Oh yeah.

Others have mentioned the miserly little flex that comes with it. They are right: it is a miserly little flex.

We have a guesthouse so it's important to keep flies out of the kitchen, I had a smaller zapper before, but decided to upgrade to this one. It is light, bright and very efficient at attracting and zapping flying insects. Very pleased with it and feel it is good value for money.

Read a few reviews of these products before deciding on this one. It uses the genuine fluorescent bulbs. It must be killing about 30 flies and mossies each night. I did notice that a big fly wasn't killed outright but hey, it was no longer flying! A minor word of warning to those of a sensitive disposition: the ZAP is pretty loud!

Worth the extra money to purchase the larger model. It zaps anything that goes near it. I Highly recommend this model.

I live out in the countryside surrounded by wildlife. Unfortunately that includes the less picturesque versions. Especially when there are cows in the field next door. I can't use chemical fly killers in the home for various reasons including asthma, and resident animals so I was sick of chasing round the house with tennis bat style swatters. Fed up with cheap plastic plug in units which broke after a week and really sick of being bitten by midges in my own front room. This unit was the answer. It's solidly built, well made, and feels sturdy. It arrived complete and with a spare bulb. It sits up on top of my kitchen cupboards and emits a gentle blue glow that you can use as a nightlight and every now and then it goes off like a whip-crack as another pest meets it's doom and I cackle with glee from my seat.

After a week of solid use to clear the last of this summer's fruit flies I'm only using it two or three times a week for a few hours each time; really only if I see a couple of flies around the house. I imagine it'll be back in constant use next spring though. I'm delighted with this. Definately good value for money - I've probably paid ten times this over the year and still had the problem. Now I can declare my home a midge free zone.

Item arrived promptly and well packaged. Product works and although it has claimed some flies it hasn't been as successful as I had hoped. Nothing wrong with the product but undecided about effectiveness.

I used this for clearing cluster flies from my loft. Cluster flies are super sensitive to light so they head straight to this and get zapped. Some flies that were already tucked away, hiding for the winter needed to be woken up by banging a stick on the rafters. At which point they immediately flew, Lemming like into the death rays.
It has the added benefit of containing the dead flies in a tray underneath so you don't have hundreds of dead flies strewn over a wide area and stuck in your insulation.

When I first switched this on, there was a constant stream of flies getting zapped. It must've got 100 in the first 5 minutes.
One thing I noticed though is that about 50% of the flies in the tray were still alive. Most of those end up dead a short while after but some don't. They are unable to fly though so they're taken out of the game. I also noticed that about 6 flies ended up on the floor underneath the tray. I think the tray could do with being a little wider. It's also a tad fiddly to remove and replace but it's no biggy.

Overall I'm very pleased and I would recommend it especially for cluster flies.

I live in a wooded area and suffer with lots of gnats and flies all year round.
This product killed 27 insects in the first 24 hours. Great crack!!!! when it gets them.
Good size and fits ok in my kitchen.
Flex is long enough for me as I have it on my windowsill in the kitchen.
Good product.
Would recommend.

When you switch on and experience the calming blue light, all is calm and then Mr Mosquito approaches.......and ZAP!!!! He meets his maker.

Truly magnificent annihilator of Insectile Vermin!!

The only disadvantage is the length of cable, I bought an extra 3 metres of cable and joined it myself.
