5.0 out of 5 stars If You Can’t Stand the Heat… by Joss Wood, 11 Sep 2014
Jack Chapman is a war correspondent, his work is dangerous and he has to travel to war zones all over the world. When he meets shy and self-doubting Ellie Evans, the daughter of a colleague, he finds the feelings of attraction he feels for Ellie to be far scarier than being an action man reporter. Jack likes to think himself of more of an observer than someone who would get emotionally involved or attached to someone. Can Ellie Evans change that?

Ellie Evans is attracted to Jack, but she cannot believe that someone as handsome as Jack would be attracted to her. She is afraid Jack may break her heart, but is it Jack’s heart that needs healing?

A heart-warming love story, all the romance you can expect from a Mills & Boon novel that has been wonderfully written into a pocket book, which can easily be read in one sitting. A sexy and sensual read not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A romantic read, 30 Oct 2013
Firstly I'd like to thank the publishers for sending me this book to read and give an honest review. Modern Tempted (previously known as RIVA) is a fabulous new series from Mills & Boon, these books are fun, flirty, sexy and romantic but with a contemporary edge. I loved the sound of them all and couldn't wait to dive in.

I quickly became absorbed by If You Can't Stand the Heat..., Ellie's business was under threat when suddenly the gorgeous Jack was thrown into her life and things got even more complicated from that point onwards. Finding out about Jack's history was fascinating, in fact the whole storyline in general interested me.

The attraction between Ellie and Jack was clear from the beginning, this side of things was well written with the tension building throughout and fizzing off the pages at me. I loved that their emotional connection was just as strong as their sexual connection because it made the book about more than just the steamy parts.

I finished this book in less than a day, it was such a romantic read that really pulled on my heartstrings.

It is AGES since I read a Mills and Boon and I really enjoyed this one. Its an easy read with lovely characters that I completely engaged with. Ellie Evans runs a cake shop and delicatessen and Jack Chapman, war reporter, ends up on her doorstep needing a bit of TLC. But who needs the most help? Set in Cape Town, this sweet romance is well worth buying.
