4.0 out of 5 stars Smart pair of black denim trousers
No cargo pockets and smart looking formal black. Suitable for the dress code policy of my workplace and probably most others. Cargo pants are not allowed and only smart black denim is permitted. These fit the bill. The fit is good and the protection on hips and knees quite good. Knee protection floats around a little as with most trousers of this type.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable product but awful "distressed" colouring
As bike jeans go, these are OK. The fit is fine. I went up a size because I like a roomy fit and armour isn't always taken into account. In the event, going for your actual waist size should probably be OK for most people. If you're carrying a bit of junk in the trunk, go up a size though.

The kevlar coverage is about what you'd expect from off brand jeans,...

As bike jeans go, these are OK. The fit is fine. I went up a size because I like a roomy fit and armour isn't always taken into account. In the event, going for your actual waist size should probably be OK for most people. If you're carrying a bit of junk in the trunk, go up a size though.

The kevlar coverage is about what you'd expect from off brand jeans, i.e. the minimal areas: backside, a strip down the outer thighs and over the knees. Not quite as much as in my Draggin' jeans but not that far off. The denim itself is also not as thick as on my Draggin's, but it doesn't feel too ghetto.

The armour pads fit the built in pockets, but they're small (smaller than typical Knox pads), especially the narrow hip pads - aim carefully when you're bouncing down the road.

My big issue is that the ones that I received are artificially faded to grey on the front and back, in a clearly delimited block from the bottom of the knees to the top of the thighs. This was fairly apparent from new, and after the first (low temperature) wash the fade became dreadful, to a glaringly obvious mid charcoal grey.

This is bloomin' annoying as I bought them specifically for office wear based on the previous review. Since they've been chemically faded, it's unlikely that I'll be able to dye them to solid black, and given the weight of the textile it would cost a significant amount in dye to do so.

This isn't a complaint about the review, we may have received jeans from different batches or entirely different makers.

But it's very disappointing as there's definitely a gap in the market for armoured office-wear trousers that cost less than Hood H2 jeans. I'll possibly get away with these with some raised eyebrows as we're business-casual, but I do wish manufacturers would stop putting unwanted effort into "distressing" new clothes. It's completely unnecessary and in this case very unwanted.
