Brilliant album on the theme of cars and why they are bad news for all of us.
Typically eccentric, Cope is at his most humorous and angry here.
Probably the most far-out, wiggy Cope trip of them all, S.T.A.R.C.A.R. is the greatest lunatic guitar spacerock epic you will ever hear. Funkadelic's Maggot Brain multiplied by the freeform freakout of Cope's own Safe Surfer, this track is where Julian puts aside all pretension and just goes for it. Played live in crash helmets, it was the audience that needed the protection; this is an attack on the brain from beginning to end.

Autogeddon is short - in comparison to Cope`s brilliant double albums Peggy Suicide and Jehovahkill, which had been released before Autogeddon. Here, we only have 8 songs, some of which are typical Cope guitar songs, like the title track Autogeddon blues, others are a bit more experimental ( I gotta walk ). But there is one song, the final song, to be more precise, that transcends everything else Cope has ever produced. It`s called S.t.a.r.c.a.r. and it is an 11 - minute - guitar freakout in imitation of Funkadelic`s Maggot Brain. Buy the record, the first 35 minutes are not bad, but the last 11 minutes are perfect guitar - based space - rock.
