TOP 50 REVIEWERVINE VOICEon 15 August 2013
The Lake House is a hidden object adventure game that's easy to install and great fun to play. Installation onto my Windows7 PC took no more than a couple of minutes and was just a matter of inserting the disc and then following the instructions - just a couple of clicks on the mouse. Once installed the disc is removed and you run the game from an icon on your desktop. Runs without any bugs or glitches. Audio and picture quality it good throughout the game.

The game itself is centred around an abandoned house, empty for more than 15 years, and sitting at the edge of a deep, dark lake. Your job is to explore house and grounds though a series of click and point movements on your mouse to uncover a mystery beginning with a photograph. There are plenty of hidden object scenes, mini games and puzzles to keep you occupied and prevent you getting through the game too quickly. Don't worry about getting stuck because there's plenty of interactive help plus strategy guide to get you through the tricky parts.

The game has as age 12 restriction because there's a sense of threat and some eerie/creepy bits that younger children might struggle to understand. If you're looking for a fast paced adventure then you'll be disappointed as this entire range of PC games is about uncovering mysteries and solving clues not racing into action scenes.

This version of The Lake House is the collector's edition and includes extra level game play, accessible only when you complete the full game, plus wallpapers, home movies and concept art. Excellent value for money as you can install the game on all of your PCs at home so the entire family can play.

I played this game via Gamehouse and I have to say that I have never regretted it. As with all HoG there is lot of going back and forth, but the storyline and the games are great.

It kept me interested the whole way through and as you have the Collectors Edition, there is always the bonus extra game to add to your pleasure.

The graphics are well done and some of the scenes are a little dark and spooky - definitely not one for younger children.

If you like games like Sacra Terra and Twisted Lands, then I think that you'll like this.

Have a few games like this and they are addictive. Have to set a time limit of 1 hour after lunch otherwise would continue till the end.
Being of senior years, keeps my mind active especially the puzzle aspects.

Really enjoyed this game... similar to the older type of point and click adventures. Some scenes a little creepy, hence the 12 years rating. Good puzzles, some real mind benders thrown in for good measure. A game to play again and again.

I enjoyed this game very much ,personally I found the strategy guide in pictures only, a bit odd at first, but got used to it eventually. I thought the game was well worth the money.
