With the release of Roland Kirk's
"Eight Classic Albums" you get a whole load of LPs for a really good price.
True there is minimal information in the double wide jewel case's inners BUT
the LPS have been digitally remastered which gives superior sound so we should not grumble.... much.

BUT Amazon have not given us the track listing so I have done that for you.
As always ignore the last track on CD 4.

The albums are
"Triple Threat (1956)",
"Introducing Roland Kirk (1960)",
"Kirk's Work (1961)",

4.0 out of 5 stars A good review of the master, 27 Dec 2013

This review is from: 8 Classic Albums (Audio CD)
The earliest couple of albums on this collection are not Roland Kirk's best but are interesting in that they chart his musical development from bebop workman to the slightly shambolic and wonderful genius he became. The turning point in this journey is surely the album with Charlie Mingus, another singular, wonderful jazz voice and I think CM had a big influence on Kirk's development not only musically but in terms of his confidence and presentation. Of course I may be completely wrong (!) but after that album it seems RK's confidence in his own abilities starts to match his prodigious musical talent. To add a personal note, I was privileged to see Roland Kirk in (I think) 1969 at a tatty theatre in Southsea when I was a student. There were no more that about a dozen or so of us in a not very inviting sonic space but Roland Kirk and the band played a complete set to what was virtually an empty house. Huge professionalism, and huge love to his spirit.

This makes a good start if you want a broad selection of Roland Kirks
early work Its strange a Charles Mingus session is included .but even so it still adds
enjoyment value to a good CD set
