This is a really impressive album, and a bit of a departure from their usual style. It still has the ferocity of black metal, on tracks like De Profundis, to satisfy the puritans. But, it is in the slower, (almost) ballad tracks such as They Rode On that really impressed me. Some excellent acoustic work throughout and an atmospheric feel which is hugely impressive. All in all, a really good black metal album for 2013.

this is black metal that is top drawer, you know the kind i mean , up there with behemoth, here watain really start to impress me , this is their best album and its a corker.
A hour long and a tad more there is time for songs to develop and even a few ballad like moments such as ' they rode on' which is 9 minutes of beauty and it doesnt seem out of place along this polished black metal, all screams and metal combining and then a class softer moment or two. One of the great black metal albums of the past 10 years for sure.

the swedish venom with a self-styled crowleyan twist and evil biker psycho-drama with a drop of G.G. Allen for shock 'n' awe!

E, i dig you man! keep up the evil work, you NEVER disappoint me! unlike a certain "fury" did!

This album is okay but is a little cliched in places. His singing voice on the "ballad" is terrible - think pub version of Axl Rose - and it drags for 9 minutes. Some good tracks though.
