5.0 out of 5 stars Good even and reasonably bright light
Produces a warm and evenly spread light. Fairly bright - certainly equivalent to the old 60w bulbs.

And its instant on - so its instantly at maximum brightness. Ideal for bathrooms or other places where you want an instant light - rather than waiting 10 minutes for non-led bulbs to get to maximum brightness.

Well worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not really energy efficient, or good value!
10watts consumption and only gives out 60watt equivalent? You may as well get a normal
CFL bulb, they don't seem to take so long to get to full brightness now and a hell if a lot cheaper....Or look at a reasonably priced LED Bulb such as energybrite that is a lot cheaper and uses a third of the electricity

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect in every way, 2 Dec 2013

Perfect in every way. I used this 10W Philips CorePro lamp/bulb in an AnglePoise desk lamp and it works really well; even replacing a 60W incandescent spot lamp it produces plenty of light for detailed desk-top work.
- colour of the light is the right temperature, not cold, not yellow
- weight is about the same as a CFL although heavier than incandescent
Price is not cheap but I am glad I bought the Philips: I also bought a batch of Philips CorePro 12V spot lights recently and they are excellent too! I will be buying more of these Philips CorePro lamps for sure.

I haven't award 5 Stars because the pricing is still on the high side.

Another problem for some fittings is the heavy wieght of the bulb. It would unbalance a sprung lamp, such as an Anglepoise.

Claims of how many hours use you will get are speculative for LED as they depend on many factors and they can last for longer than they have been produced. Cheaper brands use cheaper chips that overheat, greatly shortening their life. It is well worth paying a bit extra for Phillips if you want a bulb to last 2-5 years rather than 2-5 months.

At least as good instant light as any incandescent bulb and infinitely better than fluorescent bulbs in every department. Uses a fraction of the electricity.

12W CorePro are also available (in a few outlets), but I am waiting for their price to become more affordable.
