This is one from the Charles Band stable and although it has been criticised by a number of viewers it is not all bad in fact it's good in a number of ways.Young man Kim Milford finds an alien laser gun in the desert and a medallion which cause his personality to change for the worse-he then goes on a rampage destroying all the people in his path who have given him grief.
The alien creatures are to me endearing enough and I remember them from the VHS tape I rented back in the eighties.
It was nice to relive the scenes of this movie again and it is my considered opinion that this movie is one of the better Charles Band efforts.
The print transfer is good throughout apart from the few opening grainy scenes but this is a small criticism.
Recommended to lovers of Charles Band low budget movies.

The credits roll in neon green with constant reminders this is a Charles Band film, so you know its gotta be good. It seems some claymation ETs left behind a weapon that is more of a fire blaster than say a laser blaster. It fits on the right arm and blasts things setting them on fire, eat your heart out Bruce Campbell. Billy Duncan (Kim Milford) stumbles upon it in the desert and learns to master it, as it takes over him.

The film is campy and cheesy, but fails to be entertaining in that aspect. This is Eddie Deezen's first acting credit.

Guide: No f-bombs. Near sex. Near nudity.

The last time I saw this movie was on a Betamax video rental many years ago and I had an odd longing to watch it again. It's not the worst film I've ever seen but it's way down there and sadly the years have not been kind to it.
I always loved the opening desert scene though as a green faced humanoid alien is hunted down and killed by two reptilian aliens, unfortunately they leave his weapon behind and it is picked up by troubled local teen Billy (Kim Milford). The more he plays around with the gun and its strange power source the more he starts to lose his mind and goes on a rampage around the town against all those he holds grudges against.
Stereotypes abound lazy and incompetent police, randy teens even an officious man in black type (Gianni Rossi).
Most of the effects are pretty poor, understandable due to the tiny budget, a fair part of which would have gone to actors Roddy McDowall and Keenan Wynn despite that the stop-motion reptile creatures are still memorable though and it was worth buying to see them again. It was made the year after Star Wars, a poster for which gets destroyed on his mild "rampage", along with a pinball machine and a few cars.
The movie sits comfortably in imdb's worst 100 movies of all time so be warned, only watch if you are curious and have a warped sense of humour.

This Terrible Mess came from the Charles Band stable, who is sometimes known to bringing us something worth while, but this aint One of those. For A Sci-Fi flick You get the feeling it was made by people with little interest in the genre and were Just given 50p and told to go off and make A Sci-Fi Film. The cover makes it looks Better than it is.
