In the aftermath of the battle against Grimoire Heart, Fairy Tail are now recovering from their intense wounds with Natsu and the others are disappointed that the S-Class test has been cancelled while Cana finally plucks up the courage to confront her father. Meanwhile Ultear and Merudy have a change of heart and Zeref decides that the current age is coming to an end. Things don't stay quiet for long however as Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse, has his eyes set on Sirius Island.
This is another very good volume of the 'Fairy Tail' manga that is something of a turning point for the series so some plot spoilers will unfortunately be unavoidable in this review. The volume sees the very end of the Sirius Island arc before going onto the time skip, moving the action seven years on. Despite the fact that many fans consider it the point where the series begins to go downhill, I personally think the decision to include the time skip is an interesting one works reasonably well, allowing for some new challenges for the guild seven years on as their enemies and allies have grown in strength. The action in this volume remains very good and the artwork is truly spectacular in places, especially for Acnologia himself. The volume continues to include some very nice humour but there are also some very emotional scenes and Cana confronts Gildarts and Lucy receives some bad news following the time skip. The volume also sees the first master of Fairy Tail make an appearance and she is quite a cute character.
The volume includes the usual fan art, Q&A, an afterword by the author and brief translation notes. There is also a preview of the next volume.
Overall I like this volume very much and I feel it is well worth a full five stars.
