Didn't think they could beat volume 3 in the soul classics, but how wrong could I be.
Volume 4 is more modern soul and funky grooves, and less of the electro that vinyl masterpiece is known for. And has more lesser known tracks from well known artist such as the Chi-lites and Crown Height Affair along side lesser known artists but great tracks. All in all this is a well rounded compilation with mid tempo foot tappers next to the funky Brass Construction type sounds. With the lack of CDs from Expansion Records this year this is probably the best compilation of 2013 so far. Hence I can definitely recommend anyone who loves soul music to buy this CD, as dare I say it but the worst track on this is Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes...and even that is not that bad just electro.
Therefore labels thinking of issuing compilations in future should look at this one, as most of the tracks are not available on other compilations. Roll on volume 5 which hopefully will be with us early in 2014.
