I felt it was like reading a Catherine Cookson novel, the stories were of working people and their betters, and spins a really good story, which you want to keep reading to find out how it ends. The only down side, it took a while to get into the story, but once there it's a good read,

I have just read this book, I enjoyed it but I will not be reading the rest of the series. Was disappointed in the end. For me, the best part was that the book was set in Pontypridd and living close to the Rhondda Valleys I could relate to the descriptions of the streets and houses.

Brought this because is was advertised Catrin as the new Welsh Maeve Binchy & it was free, so I thought I'd give it ago. Glad I did as I soon got hooked, couldn't put it down. The characters seem to be inter-woven in a Maeve style. Look forward the next book in the series

As a child l spent summer holidays in a mining area and was aware of the hardship suffered by whole communities. This book is so true - and it is a delight to read of the girl who supported her family and cautiously considered her future and now I want to know more.

Thoroughly good book. I have read a few Catrin Collier books and always enjoy them.
The fact that they are based in Wales and I recognise the places makes them all the more interesting. Besides this fact though, the stories are warm, interesting and enjoyable.

Only when I had read the first chapter did I realise I'd read it in paperback some time ago, but this did not deter me from reading it again. It's a lovely read - two sides of the social divide in a small valleys town is bound to provoke problems - and it does!

I downloaded this book even though I'm not a great lover of the genre...I tend to be a crime/mystery reader.I read it,really cared about the charecters and ended up reading all eight books in the series one after another!A good read, great for a duvet day.

A very good read. Lovely character's who it is nice to get to know. I now need to find out what happened when they reach the end of the line and what about her nursing. Hope this author has wrote more about this family.
