Musically gorgeous, not keen on the Munster Gaelige
on 1 April 2016
The music, the reworking of traditional airs and phrases is gorgeous.
Look, this may not be popular and no personal slight to Iarla, the Munster Gaelic is quite harsh to my Connacht ears, at first I thought it was East Coast of Scotland Gaelic.
Connacht Irish is a soft, sweet lilting sound with softeners, which blends to form not so much a spoken language but more like a lilting air with linguistic meaning.
Compare and contrast with Máire Ní Bhraonáin amongst others.
