5.0 out of 5 stars bargain
Very happy to have found these all together for a fair price (individually, they remain quite expensive). The sound quality is fine - can't dispute other reviewer's comments - but I don't mind the raw feel of these recordings and very often when albums are re-mastered, it annoys as many people as it pleases. Packaging is fairly cheap looking, as expected, but I chose to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Big fan of Testament, BUT.......
To start - this is not knocking the band or the music....all the music is excellent, as Testament have always been. HOWEVER a note of warning for the buyer...this is NOT a remastering i was expecting, merely a reissue. So if you're a life long fan who already has these albums...i suggest you purchase something else! If you've got 1-2 of these an are looking a cheap alt to...

Very happy to have found these all together for a fair price (individually, they remain quite expensive). The sound quality is fine - can't dispute other reviewer's comments - but I don't mind the raw feel of these recordings and very often when albums are re-mastered, it annoys as many people as it pleases. Packaging is fairly cheap looking, as expected, but I chose to make my own cases by cutting these sleeves and using plastic jewel cases - not necessary, but it was easy to do and I prefer them. In summary - highly recommended to those who don't want to pay £4 - 6 for individual copies (although the music itself may well be worth it if money is no object).

Classic thrash at a bargain price! Ok, the cd's may not be remastered, but hey, 5 cds for a tenner?! Can't go wrong with that!

2.0 out of 5 stars Big fan of Testament, BUT......., 2 Sep 2013
This review is from: Original Album Series (Audio CD)
To start - this is not knocking the band or the music....all the music is excellent, as Testament have always been. HOWEVER a note of warning for the buyer...this is NOT a remastering i was expecting, merely a reissue. So if you're a life long fan who already has these albums...i suggest you purchase something else! If you've got 1-2 of these an are looking a cheap alt to buying all 5...its more than worth the cash! Just don't expect the greatest sound quality, especially on the first 3 albums, they are just a 'mushy' as the first releases.
The intersting point is this.....apart from greed, what is the point of reissue - without remastering? These early albums are classic thrash (a la Master of Puppets, reign in blood etc)...if you want to increase the fan base...why not give them good quality? Unless of course the motive is greed pure and simple (with added laziness?).

But as mentioned...the music on the cd's are just brilliantly written (tho some of the solo are a tad 'widdley-widdley' for my liking)....the fact that Chuck and the boys are still going strong is...if you forgive the pun...testament to this.
End
