Evelyn Thomas was one of the outstanding Hinrg disco divas of the 80's. Notching up a string of impressive club hits across the globe. Working with top class DJ & record producer Ian Levine, Evelyn scored with hits such as "Masquerade" "Heartless"
"Standing at the crossroads" and the commercial hit "High Energy". The lovely people at Disco Recharge" have beautifully packaged her two albums, and included rare mixes and extended versions originally released in 12" format on Levine's Nightmare label.
If you love upbeat, melodic dance music, you should definitely check this out.

So after many years (don't ask) we have two of the Evelyn Thomas albums reissued, cleaned up and added to...but what are we getting?
Not going to go into every track, as you can all ready above what mixes we are getting, but I wanted to comment on the general sound and tracks selected.
It says that on some of the tracks vinyl was used, but to be honest I really think that the sound is outstanding on all tracks, apart from one (which I will come back to), so it is great to have these classic high energy tracks released all fresh and new-sounding.
The last track on the album is High Energy (Simon's Back To Vinyl Twisted MetroDisco Mix) but not sure why this was included yet the classic 12' of High Energy is not...as it adds nothing new to the track. The sound is also poor, and it has nothing of the "Energy" of the original.
Standing At The Crossroads:
A selection of original 12' and album tracks, coupled with some mixes I've not heard before. The John Rocca mix of Cold Shoulder is amazing (played this a few times) and my all-time favourite tracks are the Reflections Suite and Reflections...still recall the 12' (photo in the cover book of this)
The sound is also here great...amazing actually, so thanks to the the Disco Recharge/Harmless for the work that has been done on this...can't wait for the rest of the Record Shack catalogue...well some of it anyway.
If I could have had my way I would have liked the original tracks included along with all the mixes...but that's just greedy so I won't go there...but missing the original 12' of High Energy...just saying.
