This review is from: Tanglewood 75th Anniversary Celebration [John Williams, Keith Lockhart, Andris Nelsons] [C Major: 713304] [Blu-ray] [2013] (Blu-ray)
I bought this from Amazon.com thinking that it would be worth it even just for the Carmen Fantasy. Anne-Sophie Mutter is absolutely BRILLIANT, but the Student Orchestra contribute very little, and most of them just sit there like "deer caught in the headlights". Best to ignore the Students!!

Copland's Fanfare is tastefully done by the Boston Pops, and the Dances from "On the Town" are terrific - this is Very Big Band Swing at its best!!

Beethoven's Choral Fantasia isn't his best work, but it is an interesting piece, and receives an excellent rendition by Peter Serkin, The BSO, and the 166 Voice Chorus

I could make rude comments about the depressing performances of some distinguished has-beens such as "Manny" Ax and James Taylor, but I'll just say "Buyer Beware" and recommend you try and find it on You Tube so you can judge for yourself.

p.s. The Always Diplomatic "Onnuh-Zophie Mooter" made a comment about the Student Orchestra which was much milder than warranted by their abysmal performance...
