5.0 out of 5 stars Good film - very Russian
I enjoyed the second part of this trilogy very much and cannot understand the bad reviews it has received here. Yes its very Russian and one has to take the oddity of character responses to personal events as being 'Russian'. That said, the dramatic sweep and narrative is never dull with 'down in the dirt' battle scenes that balance the personal with the spectacular...

1.0 out of 5 stars If you did not see the first part you will not like it, if you saw it you will hate it.
I saw the first part of 'Burnt by the sun' several times (it is really good, poetic and has special 'romantic, complicated soul') but the sequel is primitive, too long, and sometimes really stupid (it shouldn't have even started since all the heroes had been killed at the end of part one, but then , due to the unrealistic turn of action at the beginning of the sequel they...

This is an outstanding film/films [comprised Exodus and Citadel]. I was gripped following the adventures of the family Kotov subsequent to the original film. The absolute terror of everyone in Stalin's presence is palpable; and the dreadful conditions of the war are dealt with avoiding overkill. I think the most chilling moment was the moment when a soldier led the little gypsy child into the barn where the village had been assembled; and then locked the doors and burned everyone to death. This really is worthwhile film to watch and the subtitles are well presented. The performances of Kotov and Nadezhda are brilliantly portrayed and the "villain" Mitya and Kotov's wife Maryssa also worthy of praise.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful!, 29 Dec. 2013
This review is from: Burnt By The Sun 2: Exodus & Citadel [DVD] (DVD)
This is the most terrible film I have ever seen. Rubbish is too kind as is 1 star. Hard to follow and senseless. Do not waste your time or money on this film. I am not sure it even follows the synopsis at all.
