Magical and full of hope - Feels like a Classic
on 22 May 2013
Reading The Finding of Freddie Perkins reminded me of the first time I read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. Those books so impacted my childhood and captured my imagination, and this book, for me, slots right into the classics! The mixture of authentic emotion and intriguing fantasy was absolutely delightful, and I just couldn't put it down. It is well written, and well crafted.
As someone who works with children everyday, I am so excited to introduce them to this book! The author really seems to know how children think and feel, and has a remarkable ability to write in a way that a child of 9 and an adult of 60 can be touched and inspired at the same time.
I don't want to give too much away, but the twist was such a surprise!
