4.0 out of 5 stars Big Jeffrey Brown fan, 6 Oct. 2014

This review is from: A Matter of Life (Kindle Edition)
I was introduced to Jeffrey Brown books by my ex-girlfriend (who happens to be the Marie in Marie Versus: The Car. In his book Little Things: A Memoir In Slices) I haven't read any of his Jedi stuff, but I've read pretty much everything else and every single one of his books are a tiny nugget of thoughtful, awkward, funny sometimes sad, page turning bliss. He has a knack of making the everyday ordinary things that happen in life so bloody entertaining. If you've read any of his other books you won't be disappointed and if this is your first, it certainly won't be your last. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars I like you, Jeffrey Brown, 27 Sept. 2013

(ntm Charlie.) Brown has grown up in the interim and now has more adult concerns. He still exploits the embarrassment of being alive and dissects the awkward moments as he always has, but his life is quite settled now, he seems happy, and therefore there is less fodder for those. He has developed as artists should - trying colour markers now, which work quite well with his style. There is something human and touching about the line quality, but I can't help missing the old days, where it was easy to imagine him drawing his stories in a cafe in Chicago, as they happened to him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Brilliant Jeffrey Brown Book, 9 Aug. 2013

If you enjoyed Clumsy, Unlikely, Funny Misshapen Body (you should check these out, too) you will love this, it's as funny and touching as all his other stuff. The hardback format is nice as it doesn't get as scuffed in your bag when you're reading out and about.
