5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THEIR FIRST SIX ALBUMS
The Stranglers were the first band I ever saw back in '79 on The Raven tour (Derby Assembly Rooms) - loved `em - I was 15 at the time. I moved on through numerous bands over the years, picking back up on The Stranglers every so often. Saw `em again around 2004 at Rock City - really unimpressed - Hugh Cornwall had left by then & they were a shadow of the band I loved in...

2.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THE BAND, HATE THE QUALITY
I bought this last week and something is not right here. I am not a sound technician or expert, but I know my music and these recordings sound 'dead'. I have some of the original releases and the music has 'body' 'resonance' and 'atmosphere' - these simply sound dull. I can't put it any other way. Consequently, I have found the box set very difficult to enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Meninblack, 18 Jun 2013

I am one of sad Stranglers fans who has every song in every format... Actually i was missing one "Who wants the World " so i bought this collection for 1 track. It represents superb value and the sound quality is very good.

Just ignore the person who has given 1 star ...probably the guy who JJ smacked for throwing beer at him..

4.0 out of 5 stars THE STRANGLERS BOX SET REISSUED, 29 May 2013
By
This set was released a few years ago in a large format box set - and a very expensive set. This is the same box reduced in packaging but containing the same number of tracks - all the Studio Albums and any tracks from singles during the band's United Artists years.Shame the live album X Cert. is not there - but as the title states it's the studio albums. This is the size of a chunky double CD,glad to have it as I missed the original set as it was too expensive, and deleted ages ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic box set, 2 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having recently deciding to get back into the Stranglers via Uncut's review of this box set I can honestly say that I am blown away by both the quality of their material and the great sound on these CDs. This is a great value product and you should buy it now!

Victor Preston "gvb" (birmingham, west mids United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
i have the original boxset which is fantastic.
this budget reissue includes all of the strangler's music and it is a steal.
the old testament should be heard on cd with the amp turned up loud.
not in mp3 on tinny little headphones!
The Old Testament (UA Studio Recs 77-82)
