Despite being around the same age as Dave and drinking occasionally in the same pub (before it became a wine bar) I knew surprisingly little about Dave and his exploits, probably because in those days I was into my match fishing. I've only recently turned to carp fishing and am always on the look out for carp books to download on kindle. I would never of had the time, stamina or perseverance to put in the kind of effort that Dave puts into his fishing so it was a great privilege to be able to share the journey and tales that this book provides. This is a great at read for any carp fisherman, providing great insight into how a dedicated angler operates, it's not too heavy going either with many humorous antidotes thrown in. My only regret about downloading this book is coming to the end. Please write some more.

I enjoyed reading this e-book but it does highlight a lot of the wrongs with carping. There is a lot of drinking etc and I can see this gives a bad idea to the sport. The other thing is that the time Dave spent on Wraysbury seems to take over half the book! It is a little tedious towards the end. Worth a read though as you do see how Dave has dedicated himself to the sport and will always be a classic, just some little dissapointments.

Dave Lane is a natural story teller, his passion and addiction for carp fishing is obvious. He gives the reader an insight into what it takes to be one of the countries top anglers. I would recommend this book to any carp angler who wants to be motivated to go out and catch himself or herself a monster carp. To summarise Dave Lane comes across as a very talented carp angler but also a top bloke who you would want to go fishing with.

I'm older than Dave Lane and consequently can relate very much to the early days before much of the high-tech equipment we take for granted was around. I remember using tin foil for bobbins, bin bags to keep the rain off and sleeping under the stars under a blanket. It was back into the motor if it rained! You have to admire his dedication and perseverance. The bloke is mad but amazing. What a great read.

Absolutely great read loved it, especially living along the local area. I've been lucky enough to have 40lb UK common, yet never caught a UK 30!! And believe me I've tried and tried.... Up great to reading stuff like this. Learning from scratch. Trial and error.

Great read.

A thoroughly engaging read from start to finish. Finally a decent carp book I can read on my tablet!

I hope that this sells a few copies and encourages more publishers to release kindle or epub versions of classic carping books. Dave's latest book would be most welcome!

A great read from a great Carp angler ! Dave is a talented writer who drags the reader with him into the next peg in order to share his fishing adventures and subtle humour. I read Daves other book "A Flick of the tail" which is equally as good and is highly recommended.

Just a great read. As a carp angler I could relate to the highs and lows Dave went through and the vivid descriptions of situations and scenarios painted fantastic pictures in my minds eye. Extremely humorous this took no time at all to finish.

Although this is not a new book, it is timeless, in that carp anglers of any age or experience can relate to Dave's experiences and feel like you are right there with him on the bank. A must have read for carp anglers.

If this doesn't make you want to catch Carp nothing will. Makes you realise how much time and effort top anglers put in to catch their targets. Excellent, entertaining read, can't recommend it too highly.
