Disappointed Hombre,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: AVi-8 Hawker Hunter Men's Quartz Watch with Black Dial Analogue Display and Black Leather Strap AV-4007-02 (Watch)
I can`t exactly sing the praises of this watch. I got it in a Lightening Deal of the day at a substantial discount and on that basis, the watch, on the face of it, is value for money at the discounted price, but certainly not at the normal price.
The image of the watch as advertised is flattering. In reality, taking it out of the smart looking Brown presentation case, my first impression was one of cheapness. That impression still lingers. The length of the black, white stitched, leather strap, is quite substantial(Approx.10" including the watch) and should fit the largest of wrists. The diameter of the watchface is 45mm. The watch is easy to read with large figures set on a black background. However the size of the date figures and window are far too small in scale relative to the figures on the watch face. The Hour, Minute and Second hands are relatively easy to read, except in darkness. The hands are of a very poor luminescent quality (the watch is advertised as luminous)and are nigh on impossible to read in the dark. So far the time keeping qualities are adequate. The watch comes with an informative Instruction Manual. I have a criticism of one function with this watch and that concerns a facility that the Instruction Manual under the heading of Dual Time Setting, calls a 24 hour marker. By pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it anti clockwise, you can adjust a Red GMT Hand on the watch face to a second time zone. If this Red Hand is allied to move in conjuction with the time keeping of the watch, well mine does`nt. If I manually set the time of the day(Position No.2) in a forwards direction, the GMT Marker also moves forward, but in the normal mode, it does`nt move at all in conjunction with the normal working of the watch. I suspect there is a malfunction with this function on my watch. I will make do without this facility and carry on using the time honoured practice here in Spain, of deducting 1 Hour to obtain UK Time. Not exactly a no brainer. The GMT feature alone was not the reason I chose the watch, but the fact that it does not function, only adds to the other misgivings I have mentioned about this watch. I cannot recommend it, even if the GMT feature was working. Not a good buy. A Disappointed Hombre |
