A good story which misses the feeling of the Napoleonic war. The events and geography appear to be accurate to me but the attitudes of the characters are not in keeping with the era. Sir Sydney Smith caused uproar in the navy for much smaller transgressions of military discipline, the Calvert character is accepted without a blush in the Admiralty of this novel. However read it as a war novel and it will give you an adventure that is exciting and fast moving.

I sort of agree with all reviews of the series...It is a bit unbelievable, but it is entertaining. There are a number of Mills & Boon paragraphs, but it has a decent story and is not bad in its descriptive areas. I am no expert (unlike a couple of reviewers) but I enjoyed all three.
I would read a forth too. so positive from me.
Americans would love these.

overall a very good story, enjoyed it and wii definitely get any more that are published. Maybe a bit more description of the actions would have helped.

Good pot boiler but everything goes too swimmingly well for the hero. Not very convincing shoot to the top of society but a good yarn nonetheless.

It's one of those books - and then he did this and then he did that. Little characterisation.
