This is a fantastic set, full of hooky, ambient chillout alternating seamlessly with other styles. Some breakbeat, some dubstep, jungle. Occasional tracks with vocals here. Reminds one generally of Burial, Roni Size/Reprazent, DJ Shadow, Massive, maybe Crystal Castles. Most tracks, 33 in total over two discs, are just about two minutes, and despite the total, they hang together well. Standout tracks, IMO: I saw golden light; Vanishment; Pray for me; Memories; White smoke; Digital smoke. If you liked Zomby's previous, 'Dedication', you'll feel right at home here. Packaging standard but pretty, minimal information: gatefold cover, with sleeves for each CD. Great, beautiful stuff -- get it.
My last encounter with Mr Zomby (who would appear to have survived
'World War Z' !) was with his splendid 2011 album 'Dedication' (I still
play the lovely 'Natalia's Song' often). 'With Love' catapults an
ambitious 33 new tracks out into the listening world. Impressively,
there is so much variation and bristling creativity in the project
that our interest and attention is barely allowed to flag for a moment.
Mr Zomby's roots lay in dub-step's more sparkly corners. Despite some
nicely grumbling bass lines ('Isis', 'Orion', 'Shiva') much of his recent
material has the lightness and transparency which only comes with
innate musical intelligence and the ability to leave room to breathe.
Many of the compositions have space aplenty without sounding 'spacey'
(the beautiful 'Glass Ocean', 'Vast Emptiness' and short but sweet
'Vanishment are notable examples) but there are also some cracking
grooves in evidence when our host decides it's time to let his hair down
('Overdose', a sizzling D&B invention and the snappy-clappy 'This One'
both have the capacity to dislocate kneecaps with their fierce energy!)
Standout tracks for my money, however, are the crackling opening number
'As Darkness Falls', with its ethereal disembodied vocal fragments and
the delightful 'I Saw A Golden Light', a strangely fragile icy vision.
Inventive electronica of the highest caliber.

Yeah Zomby is a great musician and producer... But these tracks just don't to where you feel they should be,. They start and you think wow, but within a minute it's over, leaving you feel disappointed.. DJs will live thus record though for any set.. Big beats and bass
