Good idea about an alien species occupying human hosts by turning them in to schizophrenics with the alien voice being the dominant one and stopping human beings from fighting against each other and destroying the world. The only problem with the film is that it turned a good idea into teenage boy- meets - girl scenario where there was constant bickering and immature relationships fogging the main point that the film was trying to make. A different approach to the film could have turned it into much more interesting and thought provoking concept.

I quite enjoyed The Host. It's a different slant on the earth invasion story by a hostile race who are looking for resources and aren't too happy with the way humans are treating the planet or each other. It probably won't be to everyone's taste but the character interaction and acting is very good.

I assume it's not a hugely budgeted science fiction film but there are some very shiny cars and helicopters and a great series of caves under a volcano where the human survivors live. Well worth watching, well it was for me, recommended.

Mankind are under threat from an unseen enemy who are taking-over the
very being of their human Hosts.
One victim who who has reluctantly succumbed the to switch, Host-'Melanie Stryder' (Saoirse Ronan) fights to keep the memories the 'Seekers' normally take from their victims human-form.
'Melanie' wants to protect those who had mattered to her from becoming
one of the unwelcome visitors.
'Melanie' escapes however the 'Seekers' will not give up the search for her any time soon.
A terrific concept asking the age-old question......What If ?
certainly not a fast moving plot, however the story-line is certainly
worth a viewing.
( the author of the 'Host' and 'Twilight' 'Stephenie Meyer' has created
some interesting story-lines.....'Twilight' was watered down to capture
a wider audience base, I'm guessing not having read the book 'The Host'
has almost certainly been subjected a similar fate ? )

Another interpretation of an old tale but again I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend another keeper for my collection.

I wasnt sure about this movie because I had never read the book but based on what I watched you really dont have to its a brilliant movie that stands on its own and I found it to be a great excuse to sit for a few hours and just watch a as the story unfolds some people who have read the book hated the movie but its all perception and what you ultimately take from it dont dig too deep because its a gem just waiting to be picked up its complete fiction but hey its good fiction

I have to admit, I'm a grown up reader who likes Stephenie Meyer's stuff. I thought the film was faithful to the book and well cast. Although I have to admit, my husband thinks he was shortchanged as I promised he was sitting down to watch an alien invasion film - well I didn't lie, but maybe I got more out of it because I'd already read the book.

Living in the UAE, I was looking forward to this coming out in the movies, but for some reason, I either missed it or it was only for 1 week. The storyline is interesting and is similar to similar storylines like 'V' or Dark Skies - where you have Aliens that see wrong in what they are doing. It is worth watching and sharing with your family, although there are the odd sections that make you cringe a little with the script or the acting.

I read the book and this film certainly does it justice. A good teen romantic triangle with Sci-Fi survival tail twist.

Teenagers will love this film. The premise is good and the romance is suitably complicated by circumstances. Add to that musings on the mortality of warfare and resistance, the nature of the soul and possibility of enmity and friendship the Host manages to be more than just your everyday teen romance but with enough suppressed passions and cute guys to keep any young person amused this film holds interest for everyone. Very enjoyable.
