5.0 out of 5 stars Eye opening, 11 Feb 2014
This review is from: A Game of Lies: the Third Hannah Vogel Mystery (Hannah Vogel Novels Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
I loved the three books in this series. It was eye opening, without giving anything away I learnt things that I didnt realise went on. Rebecca is a beautiful writer, it flows easily and is very exciting. I just didnt want it to end but it looks like there could be another book as the end was left over. I would recommend this book to everyone, it is full of thrills and spills and is very touching. Loved loved loved it.

Rebecca Cantrell has outdone herself (no small accomplishment) in this, her third, Hannah Vogel mystery. I love the setting of historical Berlin so strongly brought to life, and the breathless suspense of the story.

Hannah has re-entered Hitler's Germany to engage in a hazardous game: carrying Nazi secrets to the British. Bearing an assumed name, she attends the Berlin 1936 Olympic Games as a reporter. There in the stands, her long-time writing mentor dies in her arms; the first in a chain of deaths and dangers. As if being in Berlin, where she is wanted by the Nazis, is not peril enough, she can't know if her partner in espionage is her best friend or worst enemy. Regardless of the risk, she is determined to learn what her anti-Nazi mentor died for, and all she has to go on is cryptic writing in his notebook, and her tough, independent nature. Lethal developments come in small packages, and everyone holds a secret. A Game of Lies is a MUST READ!

The third book in the Hannah Vogel series lives up to expectations. It is well paced and exciting to read. Hannah returns to Germany to cover the Olympics, incognito as a Swiss national. She witnesses the murder of her friend and mentor and investigates what led to his murder.

Hannah is such a strong character. She stands up for injustice and out smarts those around her. I also love her developing relationship with Lars, the Nazi with a conscience.

I really recommend this series. It really brings the 1930s Nazi Germany to life. Please read them in order for them to make sense!

Loved this, the third in the series. I enjoy the reality of the stories, set in a time not so long ago which must never be forgotten. Hannah Vogel is a strong woman with a soft side to her and who is constantly tested. Looking forward to reading the fourth book.
