Do The Twist - with Connie Francis Sings Modern Italian Hits, this album plus bonus tracks by Sepia ranks as the finest Connie Francis release of 2013 so far. Everything about it makes it a winner, from the beautiful packaging to the superb remastered sound. Not to mention the extensive, excellent liner notes competing with numerous lovely photographs throughout one of the nicest booklets I have ever seen on a CD release. The booklet alone would be worth the ridiculously inexpensive price of this CD!
The first twelve twisting tracks that made up Miss Francis' 1962 album 'Do The Twist' are naturally the crown of this release, but the remaining 'bonuses' more than earn their place in this compilation. Some of them are 'failures', not included on the original album, but each one of these was definitely worthy of inclusion. Some unusual songs have been added - such as 'Playin' Games' & 'It's Gonna Take Me Some Time', from the CD-unreleased album, 'Connie Francis Sings 'For Mama' - and no collector should miss this opportunity of adding them to their library. Several dancey songs from one of Connie's country albums add an exciting touch - 'I'm Movin' On'! - and though one might imagine they would stand out very oddly in an album of 'twist' themes, it actually works flawlessly. My sole gripe with this release is that the two songs recorded for but not included in Connie's Twist album ('Cha Cha Twist' & 'Lovey Dovey Twist') have NOT been included here either. This was a serious oversight, for they were both natural additions and would have made this release utterly invaluable. I for one was very disappointed when I realised by Amazon's track listing that they had not been included.
However, that slight regret has been more than made up for by the sheer quality and excellence of Sepia's 'Do The Twist'. Those two missing tracks are the ONLY thing that Sepia left out, that is beyond any doubt! If you want to hear Connie Francis at her rocking best, you must buy this!
Just as a warning: for those who dislike the additions of bonus tracks and want albums re-issued as the straight 12-track or so - find another 'Do The Twist', as you may be disappointed here. Hallmark have released the original idea, down to the somewhat poisonously green and black original cover - but you might well find yourself lacking in the the overall quality found on Sepia's. And do consider if bonus tracks are that much of an issue, for what is lost there could receive more than its equal in what you gain from this superlative 'Do The Twist'.
To any others, go ahead right now and buy!

Sound excellent and a nice reminder of how Connie did upbeat numbers-in addition there are some of her less easy to find singles-all attractively packaged , which could not be said of the original album release.
