Lego continues to deliver hugely fun games based in different worlds, this one the Marvel Universe. Much like the previous Batman games, it doesn't follow the plot line of any of the available Marvel films. And while this does mean that there is something lost in not exploring familiar set pieces, it does allow for plenty of cross over fun. Having Wolverine next to the Human Torch, next to Iron Man is like the film you wish, but could never practicably happen.

There's not a massive amount that's different here - we're still smashing stuff, building stuff, finding minikits and red bricks, but the levels and the world map are glorious - really fun to explore and beautifully made. The voice acting for the characters is good, and the story is suitably epic.

There's plenty of humour as well - my favourite being the side mission to get the 'snakes off the gosh darn hellicarrier'. Lego does comedy so well, and there's plenty of good material to play with.

I'm a little bemused as to why Mr Fantastic can turn into, among other things, a wrecking ball, a lighthouse and a water pump, but beyond that the depiction of the Marvel characters is excellent, and the range of powers used in lots of different combinations. The balance of getting coins and unlocking stuff is good too, meaning you don't have to replay missions a hundred times - my absolute bugbear in previous Lego games.

Overall, great fun. If you like Marvel or like Lego games, definitely pick this up!

This game is so much fun. So many characters to choose from. I think they couldve chosen better characters than H.E.R.B.I.E and Liberty, but maybe they want to save some characters for a sequel.
Fun for children and adults. Now, I got to get back to playing it :)

Fanastic depth like many other Lego titles, migrated to PS3 from Wii and the step up in delivery is fantastic. Crisp graphics, snag free gameplay, Dad and 7yr old son love this game.

Still playing months into it and more to uncover!

My kids love these LEGO games and I have to say I do too. They feature a massive amount of content and challenges and each game goes to great lengths to capture the license in LEGO form. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is no exception and offers a large sandbox New York City (and helicarrier). The main plot sees Loki, Dr Doom and other super villains attempting to collect galactic blocks in order to summon Galactus to destroy the world and the Avengers and other super heroes trying to stop them. It's all very random, but it doesn't really matter in this kind of game.

Virtually every major (and minor) character from the Marvel universe makes an appearance either in the game or as a collectible. Certain heroes have powers which are required for certain puzzles. For example the Hulk can rip and smash certain sections, Spiderman can sense hidden switches, Magneto can manipulate metal switches, Jean Grey can control minds and so forth. Aside from the main mission there are various standalone levels which can be triggered by visiting areas of the main map.

It's bright, colourful, and offers a very large amount of gameplay for the price. Kids will love it.

Why only 4 stars? Well like all LEGO games, it suffers from inexcusable flaws. The controls are horrible, particularly when flying or webslinging but even for jumping and fighting. It's virtually impossible to fly with any precision and this can be intolerable for some of challenges. In multiplayer mode too there are a range of glitches ranging from obscured objectives, confusing character selection and audio stutters. And then there are crashes. They don't happen but when they do, the only recourse is to reboot the console. All these things point to a production-line mentality at TT which either doesn't have the time or the process to test and refine games to the level they deserve.

My kids loved this game from the start and couldn't put away the joysticks for a second! A vivid, exciting and extensive game for kids that will occupy them for hours whenever they play it. Absolutely would recommend it!

I think this is a great game, diverse in characters, scenarios and gameplay. But few things erk me more than not being able to save a game when I want/need to. I can't be expected to fight for a checkpoint when in reality, when I need to leave the level and shut down, it's back to square one.

There's also a few time wasters like the SHIELD ship thing. Do we REALLY need to go through the 60 second elevator ride? Do we REALLY have to parachute down to the city every time we want to play? How about, when we load a game, we land exactly where we left off - if there was a proper "save" function.

The game is good, but not really that intuitive sometimes, and kids will often have trouble solving puzzles. Too much techno-junk to clutter what could be a friendlier gameplay.

Having said that, the characters are good, the effects are great, and I do love flying over Marvel's Manhattan as Iron Man.

A solid four stars.
