I've just finished reading hush and felt compelled to write my first ever review. I will be honest this book and the subject matter really affected me as I have experienced some of the things that happen to the lead character jane/ diamond. I would advise that anyone looking to read this novel be highly aware of the violence and extream child sexual abuse suffered by Jane. This book is not for the faint hearted or for those without a strong disposition .The book is narrated by Jane and all of the the things that occur are entirely from janes point or view which I found right from the start made the story that much more powerful and I felt I was quickly drawn in to janes world and that because of that what happens to jane is very easy to visualise as the descriptors in the book are so graphic, intense and we'll thought through. As the book progresses the events that unfold become more extreme and throughout there are very clever under currents and hints as to there being more to the story than the reader was lead to believe hats of to author delving de la chapa for a thought provoking novel that makes the reader desperate to see someone rescue jane, I won't spoil the boom by giving too Much away but I will say prepear yourself to be emotionally affected by janes story it's unavoidable . The author has truly done a stellar job of creating an incredibly powerful emotionally shocking novel that cannot fail to raise strong emotional responses for the reader I for one look forward to the sequel to this novel , bravo to devlin for creating an amazing book on a subject that takes guts to tackle .

I think this book sickened me and I had to skip a lot of pages. Had it been a true story I would have had a different opinion. This was so awful that after reading it I thought either I need counselling or the author has serious issues. Who could think of such a gross vile story? It was just beyond believable and the fact it was so ludicrous took any feelings away from it. I can honestly say after reading over 1000 books this was up there with the worst. Please do not bother with the sequel...

I admit I only read some of the book but enough to form an opinion. At first you are led to believe it is a true story - it isn't. It is 'written' by somebody who comes across as being perverted and no doubt is a missive of his own sick fantasies. A really emetic piece of writing - even the author's name is fictitiously listed as female whereas it is really written by a man - a man who right now might be hanging about a local park or school wearing a dirty overcoat.

Having just finished this book I felt I should write a review. I don't often bother as opinions will always differ on content of reading material, but in this case I felt a comment was warranted. I have never read a book with so many grammatical errors, poor sentence construction, misspellings and repetitive adjectives. Does this author not know an alternative word for 'coerced ' and does she even know what it means ? I found that I had to skip-read it to make any sense of what she was saying, rather like those items on Facebook which say 'Can your brain read this ?' when the words are written back to front and with letters omitted.
Aside from the very distracting language construction, which was dire, the subject matter was quite disturbing and very graphic. Not sure if this is written from a true case or just pure fiction but either way I don't feel inclined to read the sequel.

I have to say this book had me crying my eyes out.
I have read 100`s of books like this and never have i felt the emotions that this book brought to me whilst reading. It is tragic not so far fetched and if you open your mind you get transfixed in the horrors of Jane's life. It is brutal and definitely not for the faint hearted. Your emotions will go up and down as you want something good to happen. But will it? A few spelling mistakes but nothing to take away from the read. If you want something interesting to read then buy this book. But be warned it will make you cringe, cry, and gasp in disbelief. By the end of the book you will feel you have been on an emotional rollercoaster and possibly drained. But we'll worth it.

I stumbled across this book randomly and thought i would read it on my lunch breaks at work, turns out i was reading it every spare second i had!
It literally had me on the edge of my seat, i could picture all the characters, i could feel all the pain and sorrow of jane aka "diamond", so many twists and turns, it was like a emotional rollercoaster!
You can feel the pure evil of some of the characters and the innocence in others.
You will not be dissapointed by this book, a few spelling mistakes throughout but you can get past that!
Roll on Nov 2014 when hushed is out!
