These Copland scores are very familiar to a lot of music lovers, and in these performances produced using state of the art Bluray HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO technology are among the first released using this surround audio technology.
Indeed it is recorded with crystal clear sound and wide dynamics.
Performances are tidy and well controlled by a very experienced American conductor of Coplands scores, Leonard Slatkin.
Possibly not quite the best that we can expect from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra but perfectly entertaining, and at these bargain issue Bluray disc prices, very welcome for music collectors with the suitable Blu-ray reproducing surround sound equipments.
So I think 4 Stars **** is a fair evaluation for this release.

The quality of this recording is truly stunning. I really enjoyed the Rodeo suite, but not the rest of it, hence only the 3 stars. The percussion throughout 'Rodeo' is spectacular; if you're playing this through a decent surround system, this would make a good demo disc.
Unlike some bluray audios, the packaging is excellent with informative sleeve notes and cover details. Offered in 24bit/96khz 5.0 DTS-HD Master Audio and 2.0 PCM stereo.
